A Very Bad Idea

It’s no secret, we hate odd year elections. Very few people come out, and the majority of those are activists, union members, and the uber political. Should 3,500 people decide who makes policy for a city of 50,000? Why don’t we just make it easy for people to vote? We hear so much about making it as easy as possible for everyone to have their voice heard, and then so many places have these odd year elections. They are done solely so one side can control the election results. This is the wrong way to go about it.

You will find odd year elections in small cities like Appleton and in big cities like Minneapolis and St Paul. Some races have competition and some are completely uncontested. How do races even go uncontested, let alone an entire slate of races in a single city or school district? There were numerous referendums and sales tax implementations on the ballot, which passed more in the metro than outstate. Minneapolis also has a number of races where candidates are either on the Democratic Socialist ticket and the Socialist Workers’ Party ticket. Ilhan Omar hand-picked the new mayor of St Louis Park. Have fun with all that. We have to stop with the odd year elections. They do nothing, but secure the DFL’s hold on local elections.

We also discussed the recent death of Matthew Perry and those that went too soon that have left an impact on us. It prompts a discussion on the search for meaning, and I think we may have figured it out.

Shut The Front Door

All over this country, we are seeing a movement rise up; angry parents are speaking out at school board meetings. Petitioning our government is a tradition that is as old as America itself. It was deemed so important to freedom, that it was recognized as a God-given right in the 1st amendment to or Bill of Rights. Now, as all power-loving governmental bodies do, they restrict and limit that right. These “public servants” call us names, change the rules, or shut us out entirely.

Even the ACLU is worried about the trend to stifle free speech in these local public meetings. North Mankato is making residents sign up, and is reducing the available time to speak. More than ever, we need to speak out to those that represent us. We have a right to be heard by them. We share some of our experience in organizing and making our voice heard in our school district and city. These local politicians change the rules, insult speakers, and curse at them. They have so much disdain for the people that they represent, forgetting that they live right among the same people.

The National School Board Association wrote a letter to the Justice Department, so that the FBI was looking to get involved in investigating people that dissented at meetings, as if they were terrorists. We all have to stand up before we lose the the right to disagree with our government and say so publicly. Right or left, we should care a whole lot about maintaining this right.

We also make some predictions around some important odd year elections, and discuss the new Universal Basic Income pilot program in Minneapolis.

The Tide Is Turning

Unless you’ve been hiding in your basement bunker, you’ve had to have heard about the uproar around school districts’ teaching of critical theory. Parents are up in arms around the country, and fighting back against these school boards for control over the curriculum being taught to their children.

Critical theory comes to us from the Frankfort school, which were communists that were at odds with the National Socialists (Nazis) in Germany, losing out to Adolph Hitler. They set up shop in our universities, and developed critical theory, because the United States would never accept classical Marxism (the financial theory) without changing the value system of our society. They believed that they could find a disaffected population that could be convinced that they were “oppressed” and turn them against “their oppressors”.

It’s not good enough to be “not racist”. You have to be trained to be antiracist, which means that you actively fight against racism, including using discrimination against the “oppressors” to level the playing field. I’m sorry, discrimination is wrong no mater who is doing it to who. There are 51 recall efforts where parents are targeting 130 elected members of school boards. They have had enough, and want for their children to be free from this racist philosophy. Are there enough of us to beat it back?

Also… It’s history week. Can Jason equal last month’s achievement?

Science Deniers… The Lot Of You

Transgender student receives $300K settlement over discrimination dispute involving Anoka-Hennepin School District | KSTP.com

Recently, the Anoka-Hennepin school district was sued for $300,000 from a transgender female student that wanted the right to change in the boys locker room, despite having a separate space provided for her. She is a fourteen year old child that doesn’t have the freedom to get a tattoo, buy cigarettes, or drive a car. Yet, politicians, school districts, and businesses want to give then the right to make permanent, life-changing decisions without notifying parents. These “academics” have confused the issue so much, that it’s a wonder that any of our children escape adolescence intact. The student won the lawsuit, thanks to her lawyer from the ACLU, David McKinney. This amazing attorney said that he hopes that the $300,000 settlement “puts every other school district in Minnesota on notice”. That sounds like a threat to me.

We have seen the problems caused in the locker rooms, in sports, and in prison. There are so many recorded assaults in women’s prisons by men that identify as women. MMA fighter, Fallon Fox, broke the skull of opponent, Tamika Brents. Tamika says that she’s never been dominated like that. Normally, we’d call that battery or abuse. Transgender boys are dominating in high school track meets. It’s happening here. There have also been cases in many other places across the US like Pennsylvania, Oregon, and Virginia. Madison, WI schools allows for students to pick new names and pronouns, and are prohibited from telling parents or guardians about it. Highland Local School District in Ohio, was faced with a suit about equal access to any bathroom. How do we stop this now that we’ve started down the slippery slope? We’re losing a generation of our kids to this destructive doctrine. Our whole world feels upside down. Can we fix things before we are past the point of no return?
