New Hope Doubles the Franchise Fee Without Batting an Eye

I’m not sure if the New Hope City Council was trying to rush to happy hour or what but they passed a doubling of the city franchise fee without a discussion, a debate, or even a question. And guess what the vote was? You guessed it 5-0! Good ol’ 5-0 New Hope!

Jonathon London continues to be a huge disappointment on the council as he continues to vote right along with all the folks he campaigned against in 2014. John Elder and Eric Lammle vote for whatever is in front of their face and half the time I’m not sure if Kathi Hemken and Andy Hoffe are even awake. The council may as well just resign and let city staff do everything since they get whatever they want anyway.

It’s too bad that new Hope citizens are so unengaged in the process. Then again, what should we expect from a city that has 50% rentals properties. Nobody is invested in the city so nobody cares.

The whole thing is just sad.
