Mobilize and Vote!
by Jason Bradley
Well, today is the big day!
After all of the commercials, rallies, literature, and door knocking, there is only one thing left to do, and that is vote. Are you happy with the direction our cities, county, state, and nation are headed? If not, why would you stay home? The question we must ask is if someone is more likely to move the ball closer to liberty or further away from it, and vote accordingly. If that person doesn’t keep their promises, then replace them in the next election. We will never get a perfect candidate, but can move in the right direction.
You see, party politics have taken over in non-partisan races too. This is why you must get out and vote. These are non-partisan (non party) races. The three incumbents in Crystal are party-endorsed. They are now beholden to that party and its issues over you. We need to let the parties know that these races are non-partisan for a reason. Local races are every bit as important as state and federal races because the decisions made at that level affect us every day. Take time to understand those races. Take time to vote.
There is an opportunity to re-elect partisan candidates that have repeatedly raised taxes, supported expensive methods of financing, and been rude and condescending towards citizens… or try something different. The beauty of politics is that we can change direction at any time. That’s why our republic is known as an experiment. If something doesn’t work, we can always change it, and if that doesn’t work… change it again. You are never stuck forever.
Many issues will be decided over the next two years Green Step, Light Rail, garbage carrier, collectivization, funding the new public works building, and renovating the police station just to name a few. We need to choose wisely. We’ve had incumbents lie about and bad mouth candidates and citizens, and a former mayor (married to an incumbent) harassing her husbands opponent in private. We’ve had another incumbent trying to usurp and undermine a sitting mayor for the last two years. Personally… I’m ready for something different.
We have an opportunity that most others throughout history have not had. So please join me tomorrow in the one thing left for all of us to do together, and cast your ballot.
Thank you so much for your commitment to making America great!
