Dan Stauner Tells the Truth Then Tells a Huge Lie

Well even MORE high density housing is headed to New Hope and at a recent meeting on January 6 the city council took public comments about the proposal to build yet MORE apartment buildings on the southwest corner of 62nd and West Broadway.

The meeting which was held on Monday, January 6, was fairly well attended despite the sub zero temperatures. The developers went over the project and answered audience questions for about an hour. Then it came time for council statements.

Then it happened…..a bizarre one-minute-twenty second speech by councilman Dan Stauner that was both extremely insightful and truthful while a the same time it was full of deceit and half-truths.

Now folks, stick with me on this……..let’s just review Stauner’s speech and I’ll show you what I mean.

Stauner: “People have expressed concerns about the size of this project. I certainly understand and appreciate that. I am one that likes space around me without tall buildings, but the cold hard reality of life these days is that we going to see higher density housing in New Hope.”

My goodness….normally city council people deny that they are trying to push high density housing housing, but Stauner actually admits that this is the city’s plan.

Stauner: “We’re going to see higher density housing projects. somebody brought up city center, we haven’t gotten a proposal from the developers but in all likelihood there is going to be a high density component to that. the Bass Lake Road site when it gets developed is going to be high density.”

Well, it’s nice to know you are open-minded……but again some honesty! This is the agenda you are pushing.

Then Stauner loses me……and says several falsehoods

Stauner: “The factors in society are driving people from the outer suburbs.”

Really? Look at the patterns! What’s grown in the past 10 years? Lakeville or Robbinsdale? Ostego or New Hope? What facts can you site that back this statement up? Where’s the evidence people are selling their homes on lake Minnetonka and moving to North Minneapolis?

Stauner: As much as we’d like to keep New Hope the way it is, that’s not possible in this world. There are factors beyond our control that are driving market forces in our society in our community that we’re not going to able to stop.”

Factors you can’t control? Really? Mr. Stauner who controls building permits, zoning, who buys property through the EDA and then sells it at a loss, who sets up TIF (tax increment financing) Districts, who approves of land use through comprehensive plans? The answer in the city council! YOU have control over this!!!!

What Stauner is trying to do here is push high density housing on New Hope but he won’t accept any responsibility for it. It’s just the typical actions of every city council…..nothing is their fault.

    Agenda21 is alive and well.

In my country we are been taken for a ride with virtual confiscations of land whenever there is an excuse, the pulling down privately owned properties in the CBD of my city in order to rebuild to a sustainable model and the destruction of vulnerable businesses.

Agenda 21 is in our local government, legislation, education and God only knows where else.

All this is in my blog at http://www.thedemiseofchristchurch.com
There are two posts there, read both and its important you check out the links

I also suggest you all check your own national and local government websites for the following words.
    “agenda21″, “ICLEI”, “sustainable” and “population”.

    You may get a shock!

    Cheers

    Roger
