Well I guess raising the tax levy, jacking up our water bills, and raising other fees isn’t enough for the city of Crystal. Now the city staff is proposing HUGE wine, beer, and liquor fee increases. In their packet for the January 21 they propose the following increases;

Off Sale 3.2 Malt Liquor

Current Fee: $50 Proposed Fee: $100 Percent Increase: 100%

On sale 3.2 malt liquor

Current Fee: $522.50 Proposed Fee: $550.00 Percent Increase: 4.3%

On sale wine premises seating 25-99:

Current Fee: $500.00 Proposed Fee: $2,000.00 Percent Increase: 300%

On sale wine, premises seating 100+:

Current Fee: $1,000.00 Proposed Fee: 2,000.00 Percent Increase: 100%

Dual on sale wine/beer, premises seating 25-99:

Current Fee: $1,022.50 Proposed Fee: $2,550.00 Percent Increase:  150%

Dual on sale wine/beer, premises seating 100+:

Current Fee: 1,522.50 Current Fee: $2,550.00 Percent Increase: 67.5%

Of course, these increase will just be paid by US the consumers….all to enrich government. I wonder if the excuse for doing this will be that they are “getting off local government aid.”
