By Andrew Richter

A few months ago my partner in crime Jason Bradley made a post about the proposed changes at the New Hope City Center. I’ve spent sometime now reviewing the plans and I am absolutely horrified at what I have found. I’m going to break down the proposed plan in a series of posts.

The first problem lies in the city task force. Here is the makeup of the group;

New Hope City Council

Mayor Kathi Hemken
John Elder
Andy Hoffe
Eric Lammle
Daniel Stauner

New Hope Planning Commission

Paul Anderson
James Brinkman
Sandra Hunten
Jeffrey Houle
Kimberly Johnson
Roger Landy
Ranjan Nirgude
Sunday Onadipe
Eric Skalland
Tom Schmidt
Steven Svendsen
Pat Crough

Bob Cunningham, TOLD Development
Patricia Fitzgerald, Hennepin County
Stacie Kvilvang, Ehlers Inc.
Meg McMonigal, City of St. Louis Park

Staff and Consultants

Kirk McDonald, City Manager
Curtis Jacobsen, Community Development
Eric Weiss, Community Development
Shari French, Parks and Recreation
Guy Johnson, Public Works
Sherri Buss, TKDA
Gretchen Nicholls, Twin Cities LISC /CDI

So let’s see we 28 people;

5 consist of the mayor and the council

5 are city employees

1 is an employee of Hennepin County

1 is an employee of St. Louis Park

12 are from the Planning Commission which is appointed by the council

4 are contributors from somewhere…..TKDA? I assume they don’t live in New Hope either!

Notice that there is not one single New Hope at large resident!!!! No voice is given to the people so the contents of this plan will be of no surprise to anyone who has followed this blog.

Stayed tuned for part 2…’s coming soon!!!!!
