Well the city of Brooklyn Center just gave a nice raise to their “underpaid” city manager. From the Sun Post;

Brooklyn Center City Manager Curt Boganey, after a performance review with the city council this fall, is receiving a pay increase of 3.2 percent. The Brooklyn Center City Council unanimously approved the increase at its Nov. 26 meeting.

Typical city council….no dissent whatsoever.

Boganey’s salary increase is to $132,883 and the council also approved a $6,000 car allowance in 12 installments instead of regular mileage reimbursement, according to an addendum to the city manager’s employment agreement. Boganey was hired as Brooklyn Center’s city manager in September 2006 and his annual job performance reviews started in July 2007. The salary increased approved on Nov. 13 is retroactive to July 1, 2012, according to the addendum.

Minutes from the city council’s Nov. 13 work session state that Boganey’s salary was one of the lowest when compared to managers in nine other cities: Crystal, Fridley, Golden Valley, Maplewood, New Hope, Richfield, Roseville, Shoreview and White Bear Lake. New Hope’s city manager salary this year is $108,087, the lowest, and Richfield’s has the highest salary at $150,652.

So what?

Boganey’s salary was $128,773 before his recent raise approval by the city council.

$128,000??? How could he live on that?

    Car allowance is such a scam. Can’t they check a Chevy Malibu out of the motor pool when they need to leave city hall? Or bike in the summer? How about the bus?
