Another regional trial is coming our way thanks to the Three Rivers Park District;

The public is invited to an open house to learn more about the master planning process for the Bassett Creek Regional Trail and make comments about the proposed project. The open house will take place from 4:00-7:00 PM. Tuesday, June 14, at the Crystal City Hall Community Room, 4141 Douglas Drive N., Crystal.  The Bassett Creek Regional Trail will connect French Regional Park in Plymouth and Theodore Wirth Park, and will travel 6.6 miles through Plymouth, New Hope, Crystal and Golden Valley. Two major trail components already have been constructed. A pedestrian/trail bridge was built across Highway 100 between Vale Crest Road and Dawnview Terrace on the Crystal-Golden Valley border in 2003, and a pedestrian/trail bridge spanning Highway 169 was completed in 2009.  When completed, the Bassett Creek Regional Trail will provide a connection between Three Rivers Park District’s regional trail system and the Minneapolis Grand Rounds system. The paved multi-use trail will traverse fully-developed communities, providing residents with convenient access to parks, businesses, schools, and community gathering places.

“The Bassett Creek Regional Trail has already taken two critical steps forward with the construction of trail bridges over Highway 100 and Highway 169,” said Three Rivers Park District Board Chair Larry Blackstad. “The trail will connect residents of these first-tier communities to parks and businesses, and it will be an important part of the regional trail system.”  The Bassett Creek Regional Trail Task Force is guiding the trail master planning process and will coordinate planning efforts with local and regional agencies. The master planning process, which began in August of 2010, is expected to be completed later this year. The public will have the opportunity to provide comments at the open house; written comments also may be submitted by e-mail to or by mail to: Three Rivers Park District, Bassett Creek Regional Trail, 3000 Xenium Lane N., Plymouth, MN 55441
