Notes from the March 15 Crystal Work Session

At a half hour work session before the March 15 Crystal city council meeting, there was an update on the Highway 81 project.  Here are some highlights;

*The bridge over the railroad tracks will be worked on through this November.  It is scheduled to be re-opened in November of 2011.

*As usual, the road will be wide enough for six lanes but for some reason they will only be striped for four.

*Dropping the speed limit was also discussed though nobody gave an exact mile per hour limit.

*The new “special storm water treatment” will cost the city of Crystal $35,000 a year.

*Final completion of the Highway 81 is slated for June of 2012.

*There will be another phase in the Brooklyn Park area around 63rd Avenue in 2013.
